Agricultural support and infrastructure improvement at Dunyapur Center focused on enabling farmers to directly authorize trucks for unloading and enhancing loading and unloading facilities for the bulk supply of fertilizers and pesticides. The Government of Punjab in 2023-24 approved the construction of loading/unloading facilities under the Pakistan Early Recovery Project (PERP) in Dunyapur. Unloading procedures for the initial truckload demonstrated substantial tangible and intangible benefits: all stakeholders, particularly the farmers, benefited as unloading occurred promptly and without any issues.
Agricultural productivity is significantly influenced by the availability of an adequate supply of fertilizers and improved seeds at appropriate times. All government agencies involved in agriculture development policy require the establishment of unloading/loading facilities to facilitate the timely supply of fertilizers/pesticides at the agricultural centers. The absence of such facilities often results in delays in fertilizer/pesticide delivery, making it unlikely that the product will reach the farmers at the optimum time. Since no unloading and loading facilities are available in the Dunyapur area, it has become difficult for farmers to unload trucks on time, resulting in extra charges for the truck crews who are ultimately paid by the farmers through higher input costs.
